If you need to come into hospital, this can be planned in advance (for example at a clinic) or happen more urgently(for example if you suddenly feel very breathless). Your first point of contact will be Andrew, the CF nurse specialist, who will arrange the admission and transport for you if needed.
You will come into a side room to avoid cross-infection. This will usually be one of our newly refurbished rooms on ward 34, the main respiratory ward in York Hospital. Here Ann Gray, the ward sister, and the nursing team have experience caring for people living with cystic fibrosis and the complicated medication and other issues that can happen. Your care will be led by the CF team and ward staff, with input from other specialities as required.
There are televisions with freeview access in every room and free broadband access.
Ward 34 is on the 3rd floor. You can get to it from the main corridor at junction 5 using the stairs or lift. You do not need to pay for car parking while in hospital. Please bring your car parking ticket in to hospital with you and one of the CF or nursing team will be able to validate it for you.
